Rosario, our city

More than words: from the text to the point

As we do with every project that we are commissioned to translate, when it comes to assigning the tasks related to social development to a translator or a group of translators (according to the volume and the delivery deadline), we choose –among the linguists we work with– those who are interested in social development and know the corresponding terminology. It is inevitable that certain subjects touch our innermost heartstrings –especially if there is previous interest– and turn into action. The privacy policies as regards the documents and texts on which we work, policies that are always observed with extreme care, are not at stake here; It has to do with the dreams and hopes that turn into action. It was in this way that –while we were working on the translation of a series of projects in which the subjects of the social inclusion of the most unprotected sectors were tacked from different angles–, the team involved in this work devised an art workshop that would be put into practice in modules for lower income neighborhoods (the undertaking finally took up part of our weekends). This workshop was created with the final aim of helping to reduce the violence levels among the youngsters. It started in July 2007 with a toy workshop in a neighborhood in the outskirts of Rosario. A fact that speaks for itself: how the subjects to translate are not just mere words for our linguists…
